Occasional Word in Merechi: hlí

hlí   ['ɬi] v. drink.

Well, we had lóba, to eat, a while back; now we have hlí, to drink. I was unsure whether to divide up the semantic space this way, and haven't decided for sure where exactly the dividing line between the two words should be. Soup, anyone?

nèfrin sóchli hlív'të: Cats drink with the tongue.

nípan màbë'c hlív'të: Babies drink milk.
