Occasional Word in Merechi: kàli

kàli [KA- LI] ['kjali] adj. dry on the surface, not damp or dripping, but not necessarily all dried out.


Today's word continues the dry vs. wet theme of the first two entries. kàli, unlike làri, refers to surface dryness and not dessication; it is the one closer in meaning to our word "dry", but covers a smaller range of meaning. For example, a sponge that is no longer dripping when touched but is not yet dried-up can be kàli.
